Total Lifestyle Change

(Wednesday, July 23, 2008)    Healthy living isn’t something you add onto your life, another thing to put on the daily checklist.  It’s not an hour a day activity, but a total lifestyle.  Living a healthy life doesn’t happen because of something we do (or don’t do) during the day, but because we totally change the way we approach life: eating, sleeping, exercise – everything.

By the same token, the Christian life isn’t something that happens once a day when we have devotions.  It requires a total lifestyle change as well.  Our values, priorities, goal and motives must line up with God’s Word and will.  That doesn’t happen one hour on Sunday, nor because we read and pray for a few minutes each day.  Living the Christian life requires a total way of life change.  It is a 24-hour 7-day a week commitment.

Unlike a healthy routine, though, a Christian way of life is not something we can do on our own.  It’s up to us to make the decision and commitment, but only His Spirit can transform and renovate us from what we were to being more like Christ.  Fortunately God promises to complete the good work He has started in us (Philippians 1:6).

Are you committed to a Christ-like daily life, or do you think a few minutes a day and an hour on Sunday are good enough?  If you do, your spiritual health won’t be what it needs to be.  Think about it.  Are you pleased with your current way of life, or do you want God to alter your lifestyle so you become more Christ like?  The choice is your.  Begin your new life today.
