Dear Friends of Sankanac,

 In September I wrote you about the future of our home school retreat at Camp Sankanac.  Due to changes in all of our families as well as in the face of home schooling in general it looks like the time has to come to end our retreat – at least my involvement in it.  We have had 24 great years but things change and other events and activities compete for all of our time. 

 If any family, group or church would like to take over this event I would be more than happy to work with them on a transition.  This is a very hard step for me because the times there have been extremely memorable and uplifting for me and my family.  However nothing in this life lasts forever.  I just wanted to let you know in case there is some person or group that can take this over, and so that you can make plans accordingly.

 We are having a couples retreat at the Bird-In-Hand Inn in Lancaster, PA, Feb 26-28, 2010.  I’d love to have you join us for a spiritually refreshing time to get away together and invest in your marriage.  Cost for conference, room and some meals is $210 per couple.  They have 2 heated indoor pools, a large Jacuzzi, outlets a few minutes away, a fine Pa Dutch restaurant on premises and an Amish farmer’s market next door.

Seven dramatizations of the last days of Jesus on earth, including a sit-down last supper similar to what Jesus had with His disciples.  The focus will be on Jesus’ death and resurrection with many historical and cultural details added.

The youth will again lead the Sunday worship service at church.
